On May 18th, 2019 District 6900 leaders and Rotary friends from across the district joined members of the Americus Rotary Club at the historic Carnegie Library in Americus to recognize the recipients of the Sheffield Leadership Awards for 2018-2019. The Sheffield Leadership Award, established in 1994, is presented by the Rotary Club of Americus in honor of three Past District Governors – all from the same family and the Americus Rotary Club. It honors John West Sheffield (District 39, 1926-27), John W. Sheffield (District 690, 1961-62), and Langdon Sheffield (District 690, 1975-76), who each served as District Governors of Rotary District 6900.
This prestigious award is presented annually to the District 6900 club presidents (one from each of the club size categories) who best exemplify the extraordinary leadership traits represented by the Sheffield family and execute their responsibilities in an exceptional manner.
The 2019 Sheffield Award Recipients were recognized by District Governor Court Dowis:
Category I - Cliff Wilcox, Rotary Club of North Fulton
Category II - Mary Trapp, Rotary Club of Johns Creek
Category III - Rick Woods, Rotary Club of Dunwoody
Category IV - Andre Marria, Rotary Club of Thomasville
Category IV - Rebecca Stone, Rotary Club of Roswell
The Rotary Club of Americus appreciates the support of the District 6900 leadership, the Sheffield Leadership Award Committee, other previous winners of the Sheffield Award, and Rotarians across the district in making this event a success. It was a memorable evening of Rotarian fellowship which honored the District’s tradition of world-class leadership.
