Georgia Rotary Student Program

The Rotary Club of Americus has provided direct sponsorship of Georgia Rotary Students, alone or with other clubs, continuously beginning with the 1951-1952 school year. In almost all cases, and always in recent years, sponsored students have attended Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus.Since 1951 Americus Rotary, in 59 sponsorships, has sponsored 76 students from 28 different nations.

Since 1946, Rotarians in Georgia have promoted world peace through understanding by offering scholarships to international students for one year of study in Georgia colleges and universities. Georgia Rotary Clubs sponsor students recommended by a Rotary Club in their home country.Each year, about 60 students from all over the world make friends in the United States and other nations and learn about differing cultures and life styles. Georgia Rotarians believe “Peace is Possible” and through GRSP promote international goodwill through friendship and understanding.
