The Rotary Club of Americus provides annual sponsorship for the program and has for years. Additionally, the club invites the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of each Sumter County School to a weekly meeting to read and share their essays. Additionally, we have Rotarians volunteer to read and judge the essays.
Clubs support the Laws of Life contest financially as Contest Sponsors providing funding that supports contest materials, awards, and teacher training. Most clubs also choose to serve as a School Partner with a local school and recognize winning students at local and district-wide meetings and conferences. Rotary club members serve as volunteer Essay Judges who help select student winners, read and judge essays. Rotarians also serve on the contest’s Board of Directors and Board Committees giving their professional expertise to provide a unique opportunity for self-reflection and character growth to our younger generation. The Georgia Laws of Life Essay Contest asks students to select their own Law of Life, and to write about how it applies to their lives. In doing so, students reflect deeply and write from the heart about what they think matters most. The contest celebrates the students’ stories and their often profound reflections, and proudly presents significant cash awards to students and teachers.
