Wreaths Across America

Each year, the Rotary Club of Americus purchases and lays wreaths on soldiers' graves at Andersonville Cemetery in the Andersonville National Historic Site. The club not only purchases $500 in wreaths, individual Rotarians invest in wreaths as well. Additionally, a group of Rotarians will assist park personnel with unloading the semis used to haul all the wreaths to the site the day prior to the wreath-laying ceremony. This year, every marker was covered by a wreath - there are over 20,000 graves.

Additionally, six Rotarians serve as Wreaths Across America Ambassadors. Americus Rotarian Thurston Clary received the Appreciation Award and former Americus Rotarian Fred Boyles receiving the Generous Donor award on behalf of Friends of Andersonville with support from Americus Rotary Club.
