In a project made possible through the collaboration of Rotary Districts 6900 and 6910, the Rotary Club of Americus was able to procure a truckload of 1,156 USDA Farmers-to-Families boxes at no charge and distribute to needy families in Sumter County. We were notified about the opportunity on Tuesday, 10/13/2020 and worked to partner with Harvest of Hope Food Pantry, Georgia Cold Storage and a number of other entities, as well as, coordinated volunteers for a massive distribution event on Thursday, 10/22/2020.
Rotarians, GSW student athletes, nursing students, and many more volunteers were out in full force today to distribute the equivalent of 23,000 meals to our Sumter County Community! It was an honor to work alongside these dedicated people and be a blessing to the recipients of these food boxes.

Harvest of Hope Food Pantry has had to move from its normal distribution method to monthly drive-through set-up and already had process in place for registration. Storage was provided by Georgia Cold Storage and local farm operation provided transportation from cold storage facility to First Baptist Church (venue provider). |
