The Rotary Club of Americus Continues Its Support for local GOAL program
Rotary Club of Americus presents check to Dawn Ammons, 2021 SGTC GOAL Winner

GOAL recognizes outstanding students attending Georgia’s technical colleges and divisions

In its annual show of support for SGTC GOAL, the Rotary Club of Americus presented a check to this year's winner Dawn Ammons, a cosmetology student, who was selected from a field of 17 GOAL nominees representing South Georgia Technical College. From the outstanding group of students, the judges selected Ammons, the college's GOAL Winner, to serve as an ambassador for technical education in Georgia. Ammons will now prepare for regional competition in April and, if chosen as a finalist, will represent South Georgia Technical College at the state level.

A panel of leaders from the business, industry, and government sectors will interview them and choose one to be the 2021 State GOAL Winner and the recipient of the GOAL medallion.  Additionally, the state winner becomes the spokesperson for technical education in Georgia for the entire year and is awarded a new car from Kia Motors.

The Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) was launched during 1972 at South Georgia Technical College.  Since then, outstanding students attending Georgia’s technical colleges and divisions have been recognized annually for academic excellence and personal achievement. Don Smith, Past President of the Rotary Club of Americus, presents check to the 2021 GOAL Winner Dawn Ammons.
