Meet Martin Bech

Americus Rotary Club welcomes GRSP Student from Denmark

Though flight delays and bad weather tried to hamper his arrival, Martin Bech finally arrived in the US on Wednesday, August 7. As his host family this year, Rene and Angela Smith were eager to meet the young man they had been communicating with over Skype and email. Within hours of greeting him in the Atlanta airport, it was if they had all known one another for a much longer time. After a whirlwind weekend in Savannah with his hosts, Martin moved onto the campus of Georgia Southwestern and the same day, served as the speaker at the weekly meeting of the Americus Rotary Club. The meeting provided a wonderful opportunity to introduce him to the club, as well as give him the chance to reveal more about himself, his family, his country and share his excitement about the program and his anticipation for the year ahead.

As an added bonus, the club also got to meet Wilhelm Kielland of Norway, the GRSP student sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Albany, Dougherty County, and Blakely. Americus Rotarians are very fortunate to have two GRSP students attending Georgia Southwestern State University and look forward to watching the impact that both of these young leaders have on our club, the district and the world!
